National Organizations That Accredit Home Inspectors

The laws about who can and cannot call themselves home inspectors vary by state, but there are national organizations that accredit professional home inspectors. Regardless of your state’s laws, it’s a good idea to either start your search on one of these sites to find an inspector, or if you’ve found a potential inspector, make sure they are a “member in good standing” for any organization they claim to be part of.

You should be able to search the organization’s member area to find inspectors that are actual current members. Each site also lists what their requirements are for membership.
